Micheal Carr

Michael Carr is Chief Operating Officer of Managed.com. A technology executive and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in finance, operations, and executive leadership in Canada, the US, and Europe, he has spent his career building and scaling technology companies.

A Career Built Alongside the Internet

Michael began his career in Toronto's internet access business in the mid-1990s, before expanding into retail and wholesale hosting and application services that grew from a local operation into an international business. One of those businesses was acquired in 2013 by Ingram Micro (now NYSE: INGM), where he joined as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company's new Cloud division and led several international acquisitions between 2014 and 2018, including Odin, later renamed CloudBlue. In that period, the business grew from $50 million to over $900 million in annual cloud sales.

TravelTech and AI

In 2018, Michael joined Amgine Technologies, a Toronto-based AI startup, as Chief Operating Officer (COO), and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in late 2019, only months before the COVID-19 pandemic. He led the business through a series of private fundraising rounds, a complete rebuild of the technology platform, and the signing of five of the world's top ten corporate travel companies. Under his leadership, the company repositioned itself in the market, strengthened its governance, established a board of directors, and expanded its patent portfolio from 8 to 17 awarded patents.

Scaling a global software firm

In 2023, Michael became CFO of Devtech Group, a UK-based software development firm where he had served as an advisor since 2015. Over three years, he helped the company double its revenue while operating across five countries, and in the fall of 2024 he led a venture debt facility that refinanced existing debt and funded its shift toward AI-based solutions.

In the boardroom

From late 2021 until November 2024, Michael served on the board of Givex Corporation (TSX: GIVX), a publicly traded point-of-sale and payments company based in Toronto with 350 employees worldwide. Givex was acquired by Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR) in November 2024.

Michael continues to serve on several private boards and advises companies in which he is an active investor.

Leading operations at Managed.com

Michael now brings this experience as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing Managed.com's Finance, People, Customer Service, Legal, Project Management Office, and Business Operations teams as the business continues to expand worldwide.

I started my career in the mid-1990s and have experienced three major technology waves: internet presence, cloud computing, and now AI. Without a doubt, AI is accelerating the transformation of businesses at an unprecedented pace. Great businesses never lose sight of what's important, their customers, and make sure they can execute and deliver perpetual value. My job is to make sure we balance our financial goals with how we deliver critical supporting infrastructure so we can scale and deliver the solutions our customers expect.
